Neighbor Girl Marries the Boy Next Door | A Midwest Wedding and so much to be Thankful for.
/Jon & Jennifer Rose | 11.23.24
The week before Thanksgiving, this neighbor girl married the boy next door at a ceremony surrounded by their dearest loved ones. Their day was family focused and inspired by vintage glam and the bride’s new last name. Sun peeked through the wintery sky over the little white church on the hill where they said, I do. The couple saved their first look for the aisle with dreamy portraits just after the ceremony before heading to Heritage Farm Park for their Thanksgiving meal. It was cozy, rural, and shall I say cinematic…nostalgic charm in every detail.
Excitement was in the air from the minute we arrived to document the Rose Wedding Day. The bride had her hair and makeup done when we arrived. Her details were all ready for me to document, with her dress on a hanger draped from the 1950’s green chalkboard where she got ready. Before she even stepped into her white dress she looked like a movie star. I’m pretty sure Jon married Marilyn Monroe.
Before the ceremony we documented the bride and groom separately. Taking advantage of every minute of sunshine. The fields were rolling hills in the distance and the evergreens made the perfect backdrop. Their ceremony was officiated by Pastor Hahn. The couple’s children stood beside them at the alter and the bride’s best friend helped all day as her unofficial maid of honor. The sanctuary filled with loved ones. It was especially fortunate that Grandma Edna was able to attend and watch her gorgeous granddaughter become Mrs. Rose.
With the sun setting early in the November sky, I made the quick decision to ask Jon and Jennifer to make their way down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Rose and head straight out of the church for a few quick minutes of portraits in the golden glow. These few moments together right after they officially became Mr. and Mrs. Rose were so extra special. Then they came right back inside so they could greet all of the people who came to witness their ceremony.
After a few quick group shots of the family everyone headed over to the Green Door in nearby Clermont. And, while we were on our way, we had just enough daylight to stop by the couple’s waterfall and restored Studebaker for more couple’s portraits. It was getting dark quickly, so I used the lights from my vehicle to light up the front of the vintage truck with a hint of warmth. (I’m always thinking on the fly!) I totally loved every minute of their wedding day adventures.
This was a day of firsts for me; most wedding days are, since every couple is so unique!
The Green Door was so cute, such a cool ambiance for a pit stop on the way to the reception. The entire place was packed with family and friends from the wedding. After we got some candid documentation of their little pitstop we made our way over the reception site, Heritage Farm Park. This was my first time photographing this venue and it was perfect! The Bride’s great aunt and uncle run this rustic barn venue and welcomed guests with smiles and beverages. Johnson’s catered a delicious Thanksgiving meal with everything from ham to cranberry fluff. Pie and cool whip for dessert was the perfect final touch. The couple cut their tiered wedding cake by Glenda and danced the night away to live music by a local favorite, Beau Timmerman.
The Rose Wedding was truly the perfect day to celebrate their love, their family, and all of their blessings. I hope you enjoy a glimpse at some of my favorite images from their happy ever after:
