New Year New Goals | how it's going so far | personal

Each new year I reflect on the year before, on the goals I made, the goals I met, the goals I let fall to the wayside, and what intentions I want to make going forward.

Without a doubt I’m always striving to improve, and that doesn’t necessarily always mean more - sometimes it means less.
Less perfectionism
Less worry
Less distractions
Less clutter….
so I am able to focus more on what really matters.

So in keeping with my intentions for 2024 I feel the best phrase for me for 2024 should be, ‘Let go.’

Rather than wait for this year to end, I’m looking back on my first month to evaluate how things are going, and y’all… things are going great! Even with the craziness of holiday travel, overcoming winter sickness, snowstorms, and cabin fever… I’ve found joy in being at home with my little family in our cozy spaces on the farm. AND, I’m also so grateful for the time I got to spend with my family in North Carolina, although it’s never enough and I miss them so much already!

One of my New Year’s goals is to cook more meals for my family. Even though I’d say I was forced into keeping this goal this month, it has been great. Rather than relying on frozen pizza, I have intentionally tried new things and spent more time at the table with my seven year old and husband. This is something I remember as a child and I want to give that sense of family around a table type of stability to my kiddo, too. It’s not always easy with busy schedules, but it’s important to me and therefore I will make it happen.

Another goal is to declutter. We’ve gone through the house and worked on decluttering different rooms, clothes, closets, toy cabinets. I cleaned out my art studio, and I’m feeling so inspired. Again, being stuck home much of the month gave me a great head start on this goal that I will keep working on throughout the year. Funny enough, just the other day Emmajean said she likes it cleaned up, like her mama! The eye rolls from her dad were hilarious.

And my last intention is to ‘simplify to amplify.’ That little line is something that struck me in a recent webinar. I plan to make everything in my life a little simpler this year. Simpler for me, for my clients, for my family. I’ll update you on ways I go about that in the coming weeks/months and let you know how it goes!

So hope your new year is going great and that you made the most of January. Whether you were cozy reading books and drinking hot cocoa, resting and recovering from 2023, planning your year ahead for the most productivity, or working out and eating all the leafy greens ….

I hope this first month of 2024 has been wonderful for you!

On to month number 02.2024.. Let go, Let’s go!
