/How to have a magical Engagement Session!
YEP, I switched up that title. It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged an engagement session, but I couldn’t resist sharing this one!! You are in for a treat because not only do you get to scroll through some gorgeous images, you’ll get a glimpse of some super-cute boho outfit inspiration, and Kate-Leigh and James really show off what makes an engagement session truly magical! —- Can you guess what my number one tip is? Location
A great photographer can make magic in any location, but it doesn’t hurt to start off with a jaw dropping backdrop! I love open fields, wildflowers, old barns, limestone walls and rustic silos… y’all they had it all! I’m also one of the most sentimental human beings on the planet! So taking this session on the family Fossum Farm and on the hay field where James popped the question was literally the icing on the cake! If you don’t have a location like this but dream of these backgrounds for photos, I’ve got you covered at Wold Farm, too!
Time of Day
A great photographer can make magic any time of day, but early morning and late afternoon early evening are the perfect time for glowy lighting and epic scroll-stopping images. I love to schedule Golden Hour sessions to actually start about two hours before sunset which allows time for bright clean images that make my heart sing, and for that deep rich lighting that really makes images feel romantic right before sunset!
Outfit Selection
You’re going to look your best if you’re comfortable… so wear something you feel amazing in!! I recommend choosing a casual outfit and a dressy outfit for a variety of looks. When selecting outfits choose colors that compliment and avoid “matchy-matchy.” I absolutely love how Kate-Leigh’s light colored outfits popped against the greens of summer and how James’ earthy neutrals warmed up the images….oh and the boots and accessories…. total perfection!
Trust
Trust your photographer. Trust their lighting choices, their directions, their silly cues and playful poses… you’re going to love your images!
