Abbie's Artwork - a fundraiser for Art in the Alley in Elkader IA
/I love art and a chance to dress up and enjoy time with friends and members of our community is always icing on the cake!
Last night I attended a special exhibition in downtown Elkader called Abbie’s Artwork. It was a wonderful evening of art, lovely music, fabulous food, wine, and fun! Not only was it fun, it was for a good cause. All of the money raised will go toward the Art in the Alley project that is currently underway in Elkader. (If you’re an artist and would like more information on applying to the Art in the Alley project, reach out to Kate Lower at Main Street 563 245 2770).
Abbie’s Art was held last night at G’s Closet and Gallery and featured the artwork of an accomplished Elkader artist, Abbie Griffith, whose family is still located in the area. The collection is breathtaking and the family has done a really wonderful job of preserving it for so many years. It was a treat to get to view all of Abbie’s Artwork and to do so in support of a future art project to benefit Elkader. Many thanks to all who were present, to those who helped pull the event together, and to Abbie’s family for preserving her artwork for all of these years and sharing this historic collection with us!

Steve and Sally Stendel,
I’d personally like to say an extra big thanks to you for opening your doors in Elkader. You provide such a warm and welcoming venue to show, see, and sell artwork in our community. I’m so lucky to live in town where people value art and know that it helps build community. Thank you!
