What to Expect

I find joy in documenting real life emotion, natural poses, and lots of candid interactions!

Expect genuine images that reflect your life… including smiles, giggles, and even the occasional toddler tears. (Hey, sometimes it happens and that’s okay!)

Prepare for some silly prompts, a few traditional poses, playful games, and lots of those candid in-between poses.

You’ll also probably be asked to sit on the ground at some point! You’ll thank me… we’re going to get so many great images!

Expect to have fun!

What to Wear

Dress for the season and your style!
Wear clothes you feel great in, your confidence will show!

Soft, pastel, colors mixed with light neutral colors like cream and light denim make for bright clean images.

Medium earthy colors make for warm moodier images, but can still be soft and light if mixed with creams and lighter layers.

Bright Pop Colors tend to give your images a vibrant feel, which may be enhanced on a sunny day.

Choose a style. For families, think dressy, casual, or go formal, just let everyone being photographed know what “look” you’re going for… let them know the dress code! For seniors, headshots, and couples, bring an outfit that is casual and one that’s dressy for two very different looks.

Mix and match - try not to be “twins!”
Variety from layers, solids, patterns, and colors looks natural and pleasing in photos.

Avoid
• avoid lint…solid black shows even the tiniest bit of lint. Formal wear is typically lint free material. I just always like to warn folks about lint on black clothing.
• avoid clothing that wrinkles easily
• avoid tiny patterns because it can cause moiré….a funny illusion in the camera. (For example, go with large plaid rather than tiny checkers.)

Most importantly, wear what YOU feel amazing in!

When & Where

WHEN

I can make any time of day work, but I prefer to schedule portraits around the soft beautiful light that happens around the golden hour, 2 to 3 hours prior to sunset.

WHERE

I’m super sentimental, so I am happy to come to your home, but I also have favorite locations that I can suggest. For great locations, think simple backgrounds and great lighting…. I love wildflower fields, prairie grass, surrounded with tall trees for that perfectly diffused light.

Let’s collaborate!
