YAY!

Hi there! We are going to have so much fun at your photo session! I know sometimes getting everyone ready, deciding where/when/what to wear can be a bit intimidating, so I have a few tips here to help make life easier!

WHAT TO EXPECT

I find joy in documenting real life emotion, natural poses, and lots of candid interactions!

Expect genuine images that reflect your life… including smiles, giggles, and even the occasional toddler tears. (Hey, sometimes it happens and that’s okay!)

Prepare for some silly prompts, a few traditional poses, playful games, and lots of those candid in-between poses. This style allows me to create galleries filled with images full of laughter and genuine expression.

You’ll also probably be asked to sit on the ground at some point! You’ll thank me… we’re going to get so many great images!

I don’t guarantee a set number of images because every session is different, but I do guarantee a gallery filled with emotion and images that tell the story of your life. Whether you select a petite, full length, or extended session - you’re going to have a TON of images to pick from!

NO MATTER WHAT - Adults please don’t worry about your kiddos, let them play! The more fun they’re having the bigger the smiles in photos!

Expect to have fun!

WHAT TO WEAR

Dress for the season and your style!
Wear clothes you feel great in, your confidence will show!

Soft, light, neutral colors mixed with creams and denim make for bright airy images.

Medium earthy colors make for warm moodier images, but can still be soft and light if mixed with creams and lighter layers.

Bright Pop Colors give your images a vibrant bold look.

Choose a style.
For families, think dressy, casual, or go formal, just let everyone being photographed know what “look” you’re going for!

For seniors, headshots, and couples, bring an outfit that is casual and one that’s dressy for two very different looks.

Mix and match - try not to be “identical”
Variety from layers, solids, patterns, and colors looks natural and pleasing in photos.

For large groups and extended families I suggest choosing one or two unifying colors and then adding neutral colors to incorporate throughout - this helps to tie everyone together (think cream/ whites/ light blues and earth tones as neutrals).

Always feel free to send me some images if you’re unsure!

Avoid
• I usually say avoid solid black (it shows even the tiniest bit of lint)
• avoid clothing that wrinkles easily
• avoid tiny patterns because it can cause moiré….a funny illusion in the camera. (For example, go with large plaid or large florals rather than tiny dots or tiny checkers)

Most importantly - Wear what YOU feel amazing in!

WHEN & WHERE

WHEN
I can make any time of day work, but I prefer to schedule portraits around the soft beautiful light that happens around the golden hour, 2 to 3 hours prior to sunset, or first thing in the morning.

WHERE
I’m super sentimental, so I am happy to come to your home, but I also have favorite locations that I can suggest. For great locations, think simple backgrounds and great lighting…. I love wildflower fields, prairie grass, and tall trees for that perfectly diffused light.

At any location, Trust me to place you in the spot and direction for the best lighting / it changes every day depending on the sun and season!

I can’t wait to collaborate!

Thank you for all of the amazing memories! We love all of our pictures and have had a hard time picking our favorites. You have been fantastic to work with and we love everything about you!
