Sharing Tuesdays | Starting with Goals
I’ve decided to start sharing some art tips and things I’ve learned with you over on social media, but I thought you might find it helpful to see a quick recap here on the blog.
The first week I talked about: GOALS.
I believe in setting goals, learning and growing together. I don't always keep up with my goals, but I'm great at setting them. Maybe we can keep each other accountable?
So, set an art goal (drop it in the comments below if you want). Whatever it is you want to learn or do. Is it art, photography? Maybe your goal is to experiment, or simply start making art. Maybe it's to approach a gallery, or promote yourself. Maybe it’s just to learn more about art. Start with your GOAL, your intention for the day/week/or month.
Goal setting might be a quick easy task, but I think it's a great place to start!
Recap, week one: I mentioned setting goals. A few of my goals included working on my commissions with no strings attached series, experimenting with a new medium, and keeping up with my #sharingtuesdays...

I'm excited to report back that I've been working on the series, I've incorporated the oil #rfpaintsticks into these next few pieces and I'm really enjoying this new material.

Week Two Tip: EXPERIMENT.
Do not be afraid to experiment, use lots of paint, and work in layers. I'll always remember one of my first collegiate level painting classes and my professor showing us how to lay out our paint. Paint is expensive so the natural instinct is to not load your palette. He made sure we had plenty on the palette. It's something that's stayed with me all of these years and is reflected in my chunky textured artwork.
Week Three: ABSTRACTION IS REAL.
#Life is.... Chaos structered as non-chaos. #AbstractExpressionism is.... Chaos structured as non-chaos.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Life's amazing, bewildering, beautiful and crazy all at the same time. To me, a great abstract painting is actually a very realistic portrait of life, of existence...
Week Four: VARIETY.
Being inexhaustible, life and nature are a constant stimulus for a creative mind. -Hans Hofmann⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I'm working on a painting, I'm pulling from nature. I find beauty in diversity. I believe my strongest paintings are the ones that show a good sense of variety.. just like the world around us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example, just look at the variety of hues, values, tones, and textures right in my crazy wild flowerbed! I love the summer shades of green, wildflowers mixed in, and those magnificent clouds across the sky so blue. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Tuesday Tip: Make sure to include variety in your art!
