A Snowy Day and Memories Made

Happy Snow Days!

Okay, so about 10 (maybe 20) minutes is all I can actually handle outside in the bitter cold!

It's SO worth it though to see this little one running through the snow, eating flakes as they fall, making memories.

I usually just have my cell phone when I'm out in the snow, but I decided to take my camera out on this particular occasion.

I love this image. When I look back at this moment, I immediately feel her joy.

Some of my favorite childhood memories are the ones where my siblings and I were all bundled up and playing outside in the snow. Building snow forts, climbing through the woods and sledding! We of course always hiked across the creek and picked the steepest sledding hill, dodging all of the trees on the way down. (I'm sure we scared my parents, but so happy they gave us the space to explore and play.) We'd reluctantly come inside when mom called for a warm-up break. She'd throw our wet snow clothes into the dryer and we'd huddle by the fire with a snack, counting the minutes until we could go outside again.

Watching my little one play in the snow takes me back to those happy memories and to a few very special photos that my parent's have displayed to this day. I’m so grateful to have the memories and those images stored in my mind, in my heart, and in their home.

You don’t have to stay outside for long, but I urge you to get out for just a few minutes and take photos of your kids playing in the snow!

A great photo doesn't just show you something, it allows you to feel it.

May you have a safe, snuggly, joy-filled snow day!

XO,

Jillian
